Time, Talent & Treasure - how we support our living tradition

This church is made up of all of us.

It is what we learn together, the work
we do together, the fun we have together.
It is what we share with one another,
with people around us, and with the world.
UCH is funded by the generosity and commitment of its members and friends. Each year during the annual Pledge Drive, folks make a financial commitment for the coming year. While other faith traditions ask for a tithe - 10% of income - our church understands that our members are generous in many other areas of their lives.

Pledge Drive Committee

The pledge drive is comprised of an ever-changing group of folks who dedicate their time and creativity toward a successful annual pledge drive. Most all of the funds the church uses come from our members so this is an essential task.  They create inviting campaigns each year sharing the details of our financial spending, host a dinner to celebrate the fellowship that is so prized at UCH, and follow up with individuals who somehow miss the many mailers and still do want to support our church.

Finance Committee

The finance committee if comprised of dedicated people who care for the financial health of the church. They help create the annual budget, oversee the bookkeeper, report to the Treasurer as a representative of the board, and watch for the long-term health of the congregation.

Endowment Commitee

UCH ENDOWMENT - GROWING A HEALTHY FUTURE
UCH has a circle of thoughtful committed folks who are looking beyond today and toward a healthy and vital future for this church. The endowment was established over a decade ago and is still in the growing stage, gathering funds to reach a goal of one million dollars when distributions can be made on a yearly basis.  To this end, the committee has come up with a number of ways designed to grow the fund.
THE LEGACY CIRCLE
To become a member of the Legacy Circle, one has to contribute in the aggregate (all your contributions count) a total of FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000) or more; or sign a pledge that you have amended your estate plan to leave $5,000 to the Endowment Fund.

The Legacy Circle members will be honored each year at an annual gathering in the fall of the year. We envision a large group eventually and we hope everyone does what they can to work toward this goal.

There is a MATCHING GRANT of up to $5000 for all contributions to the Endowment Fund for qualification toward the Legacy Circle.  If you contribute $100, we will record your contribution as $200 toward the $5,000 goal.  All funds matched until the $5,000 is exhausted.  We are extremely grateful to our anonymous donor for this wonderful gift.

Help us out...do what you can and be an ambassador for us.  Be sure everyone you talk to understands what this is about whether you aspire to be a Legacy Circle Member or not.
WAYS TO SUPPORT OUR CHURCH COMMUNITY:
  1. Pledge.  We budget for our pledge.  We give what we can, our fair share, from our cash flow to support the operations of the church.
  2. Occasional Capital Campaign.  When needed, we give as we are able from savings if necessary for extraordinary needs of the church.   For all those who stepped up to make our new roof, heating and air conditioning, windows and solar panels possible --THANK YOU!!
  3.  Another need we have as a congregation is to insure the future of this church.  This is the Endowment Fund.  This is "special giving".   How can you help?
  • Make a donation in memory of someone who has passed away.
  • Make a donation to honor a birthday or anniversary.
  • Ask your friends to honor you by making a donation to the Endowment Fund for your birthday or anniversary.
  • Add the Endowment Fund to your list of year end charities -- fully tax deductible!
  • Remember UCH End Fund in your estate plan.  You may not feel you can afford a significant gift during your lifetime, but you can leave a small portion of your estate to UCH in your Will or Trust.  What if you spend down your estate and have less than expected at the time of your death?  Your estate documents can say "$5000 to UCH End Fund, or 5% of my net estate, whichever is the lesser amount."
This church community is an amazing place that shines its light of love and care out into a wanting world. Thank you for your support in helping it live on well into the next century.
