Fair Trade Table
Our Fair Trade Table program seeks to address global poverty by purchasing goods from artisans guaranteed a living wage (along with 9 other ethical fair trade principles), which we then share for sale along with their stories on Sunday mornings at the church. Items on the table are certified by the Fair Trade Federation. All proceeds from the table are donated to the church. Table items include food and coffee/tea, home goods, gifts, and jewelry.
Volunteers help set up or pack up the table and assist with sales before or after church on Sundays. The Fair Trade Table is open most Sundays in November and December; off in January; and open twice a month from February through May. Volunteers enjoy a discount on table products and an annual international dinner with extra discounted shopping as a thank-you.
Please join us to shop or as a volunteer! Debbi Daniel-Wayman sends out email signups, and most folks work one 1.5-2.5 hour shift at a time. Email Debbi here with questions or to sign up.
UCH Book Fair
The Book Fair Team has gathered book recommendations from various groups at the church and held an in-person book book fair to share recommended titles as well as offering a bookcase full of them for sale whenever the Fair Trade Table is open after services in the Alice Warren Room.
These same recommendation lists are maintained and for sale at our online book fair at https://bookshop.org/shop/uchbookfair, which is also a website with over 7 million titles available for purchase at a small discount anytime you need to purchase or gift a book online. 100% of proceeds go to the church from both in-person or online sales.
