Our CAN-DO SUMMER program will captivate all age children and youth together in one cooperative experience. Children and youth should meet at 10:00am under the big maple tree in the naturalistic playlot on the west side of the RE Building. In the case of inclement weather please meet your friends in Joshi Chapel. Wear play clothes, bring a water bottle, and be ready for some fun!!
June 21- The babysitting play group will be available for our youngest friends and all school age friends are encouraged to attend our summer solstice service which will include the dancing of the Maypole.
June 28- Let’s make Fairy Houses outside using twigs, leaves, grasses and other things we find. We use our curiosity to ask, “Where might a fairy like to live?” We use our imagination to make the fairy house uniquely our own and explore the natural world through the eyes of fairies. We can do it!
July 5- No RE or Babysitting
July 12- Let’s make paper airplanes and use our curiosity to explore their gliding, swooping, and flying properties. We have instructions for several versions of a paper airplane, or you can experiment with your own. We can do it!
July 19- When Unitarian explorer Stefansson decided to live with the Inuit, a people of the Far North, he decided to try something new. He had never eaten the same exact foods as the Inuit. So, he tried. We can do it too!
July 26- Let’s build a blanket fort. It’s a way of starting small and then finding out how we might combine, modify and use a blanket fort that we have created. We can do it!
August 2- Let’s create music with only our bodies. Just like the song that was played called “Just Clap Your Hands.” We can do it!
August 9- Let’s create Junk Sculpture with recycled goodies and surplus from the supply closet. We can do it!
August 16- Let’s compete on an Obstacle Course and award points for it. And here’s the difference. You also get points for helping and encouraging others as they try out the obstacles! Yes, that’s what we are here for isn’t it? Helping, supporting and encouraging each other as we navigate our lives. We can do it!
August 23- Let’s be people who build and create. Architects are people who design buildings. Today, we are going to embrace our inner architects. We can do it!
August 30- Let’s design and play a mini golf course. We can do it!
