You Are Welcome Here!
The Unitarian Church of Hinsdale (UCH) is an official Unitarian Universalist Association Welcoming Congregation.
We believe each person has a share of the truth and we need one another to grow whole. We welcome young and old, families and singles, all the colors and cultures of the human race – gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning and straight.
Unitarian Universalism (UU)'s approach to belief is that spiritual and ethical values should fit individuals, rather than fitting everyone into the same religious mold. We have no single religious text or creed to which you must agree. Rather, we draw from the world’s wisdom traditions and the words and lives of women and men who have brought beauty, justice, tolerance, and freedom into being.
What to Expect
Our Sunday service starts at 10:30 am. The service is usually about an hour long. Services vary, but will include silent reflection, spoken prayer, stories and readings, and a monetary offering.

Justice WorkIt is impossible to struggle for civil rights, equal rights for blacks, without including whites. Because equal rights, fair play, justice, are all like the air; we all have it or none of us has it. That is the truth of it. ~ Maya Angelou
The Social Justice Circle brings together multiple teams to ensure that we are coordinated, and to find opportunities for deepening connections. The Social Justice Circle teams include:
These teams work together with UUANI and UUPMI , other faith communities and partners to advance our values. For more detailed information, most teams are listed separately on this website. At the root of our UU faith is that we are all connected; we are more ourselves, the more we connect with others. So join the work of the Social Justice Circle and see what we can accomplish together! For info, contact [email protected]. |
EngageMake a difference in your world. UCH offers many ways to connect, learn, share, grow, volunteer, and engage. Bring your passion and your gifts and we will find space for you to thrive.
In addition to the Sunday morning service, members and friends can also gather to study religion and religious history, morality and ethics. They might work to further a cleaner environment or provide help to one another, enjoy one another’s company and just have fun. Like in any organization, church life is enriched the more one participates. The following are some of the committees, events, workshops and programs that help shape this congregation. They are open to anyone interested.

LearnLife becomes religious whenever we make it so: when some new light is seen, when some deeper appreciation is felt, when some larger outlook is gained, when some nobler purpose is formed, when some task is well done. ~ Sophia Lyon Fahs
Our Director of Religious Education, Pam Fodor, with support from our strong Religious Education Committee, takes great care in preparing fun, captivating, classes, workshops, activities and worship services to help our folks explore their Unitarian Universalist beliefs and values as they grow and mature. Pam Fodor is happy to speak with you further about the program. Please feel free to contact her at 630-323-2885 Ext. 110 or [email protected].
