Sunday Worship      10:00am
July 12, 2026

“A Canopy of Care: Scientifically, Not That Bad!”

As the song goes, “There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow, just a dream away.”

The reputation of science and technology has taken a hit lately, as we watch helplessly as our intellectual infrastructure is dismantled and the tech industry chases Skynet. But not all is bleak. Science may not be able to save us, but it’s still working hard to protect our health, our environment, and better our understanding of our place in the universe.

This Sunday we’ll discuss the state of science, some recent wonder it’s provided us, and the positive impacts of people working together that we can see every day.

Worship Participants:
Gene Schafer, Worship Leader

Tony Meadors, Worship Associate
Religious Education: The Can-Do Summer Staff

!SUMMER IS HERE!
THIS Sunday, June 21st, our summer worship schedule begins at
10:00am.
From June 21st through September 6th, we will meet outside at 10:00am, weather permitting, in and around the Conversation Circle east of the church building. The Worship Circle Leaders will lead most services, with some services led by Rev Beth.
As is our summer custom, we encourage folks to bring their own chairs or blankets to enjoy our time together, and we’ll also set up some chairs. Hospitality services will continue through the summer.
If you have questions about summer services, please reach out to Susan Hebble or Rev Beth.
Your Worship Circle team looks forward to sharing their Summer Sundays with you!
Worship in UU Churches
You Are Welcome Here!

The Unitarian Church of Hinsdale (UCH) is an official Unitarian Universalist Association Welcoming Congregation.

We believe each person has a share of the truth and we need one another to grow whole. We welcome young and old, families and singles, all the colors and cultures of the human race – gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning and straight.

Unitarian Universalism (UU)'s approach to belief is that spiritual and ethical values should fit individuals, rather than fitting everyone into the same religious mold. We have no single religious text or creed to which you must agree. Rather, we draw from the world’s wisdom traditions and the words and lives of women and men who have brought beauty, justice, tolerance, and freedom into being.

MAKE IT A CAN-DO SUMMER!!
Introducing CAN-DO SUMMER! Our summer RE program’s aim is to instill in our children the “can do spirit” and the ability to face challenges that occur in life with an open mind and flexibility. Each session combines curiosity and imagination, two skills that are key to feeling empowered and excited to try and make new things.
Children and youth of all ages are invited to join us outside in our naturalistic playlot at 10:00am to make fairy houses, go fishing, fly paper airplanes, try out an obstacle course and many other fun activities!

Justice Work

It is impossible to struggle for civil rights, equal rights for blacks, without including whites. Because equal rights, fair play, justice, are all like the air; we all have it or none of us has it. That is the truth of it. ~ Maya Angelou

Engage

Make a difference in your world.  UCH offers many ways to connect, learn, share, grow, volunteer, and engage.  Bring your passion and your gifts and we will find space for you to thrive.
In addition to the Sunday morning service, members and friends can also gather to study religion and religious history, morality and ethics. They might work to further a cleaner environment or provide help to one another, enjoy one another’s company and just have fun. Like in any organization, church life is enriched the more one participates. The following are some of the committees, events, workshops and programs that help shape this congregation. They are open to anyone interested.

Learn

Life becomes religious whenever we make it so: when some new light is seen, when some deeper appreciation is felt, when some larger outlook is gained, when some nobler purpose is formed, when some task is well done. ~ Sophia Lyon Fahs
Our Director of Religious Education, Pam Fodor, with support from our strong Religious Education Committee, takes great care in preparing fun, captivating, classes, workshops, activities and worship services to help our folks explore their Unitarian Universalist beliefs and values as they grow and mature. Pam Fodor is happy to speak with you further about the program.
