About Us
What is Green Sanctuary? In 2006, the Unitarian Church of Hinsdale began working toward certification as a “Green Sanctuary” under an environmental action program sponsored by the UU Ministry for Earth. By guiding the members of the congregation in environmentally healthy practices for their own lives as well as in church facilities, we promote our seventh principle: Respect for the interdependent web of all existence. The congregation learns about and strives to implement as many green actions as possible., and Earth-centered worship is integrated into both adult and children's services. Although certification may come this year, the practices are life-long for the good of the planet. It is a way to put part of our spirituality into action.
